How To Decorate Granite Countertops According To Stone Color

Home & Garden Blog

When it comes to natural granite countertops, one color does not fit all. Granite comes in a wide variety of hues, including sleek black, upscale-looking light grey or ivory, or rustic brown. You can even find marbled countertops featuring a mixture of shade.

Before decorating your new granite counters, consider the color of the stone to create a cohesive style. For instance, casual, shabby chic-inspired decor might not be the best match for black granite, but there are plenty of other options that are.

Here are some granite countertop decorating ideas to use as inspiration.

Black or Dark Grey Granite

Play up the modern feel of black granite countertops by enhancing them with edgy silver or chrome decor pieces. As one idea, fill a large, shiny silver bowl with fruit, which will work double-duty as storage. Continue with the theme with a silver or chrome paper towel holder, utensil holder and spoon rest. This look with work especially well if you also have stainless steel appliances.

If you want to soften the decor scheme with some greenery, place culinary herb plants such as basil, cilantro or thyme in industrial-chic chrome plant pots. Place them on a silver rack near a window. You can also hang a row of silver or chrome lights above a kitchen island if you have one.

Light Grey or Ivory Granite

Enhance rich-looking dove grey or ivory granite counters with elegant, yet up-to-date, decor pieces. To keep your kitchen island or countertops clutter-free, arrange a white vase filled with white flowers, such as roses or lilies, along with a few white pillar candles on a gold or silver tray.

As another idea, fill vintage milk glass pitchers with handfuls of baby's breath flowers for a casual-yet-timeless look. If you want to give the space a pop of color, add seasonal flowers, such as purple lilacs or yellow tulips to the mix.

Pick white or cream-colored kitchen gadgets, such as a toaster or blender, to keep with the light, ethereal style.

Brown Granite

Although all natural granite has an earthy appeal, brown stone is the most rustic-looking of them all. For planting plants and herbs, stick with rustic terracotta or pottery pots. Display fruit in a large wooden bowl, and create a cohesive look with wood storage canisters, spoon rests and towel racks.

If you want to install a new back splash, consider natural brick or slate to complement the counters. Contact a company like All Marble Granite & Tile Imports Inc for more information.

Carpet Cleaning Tips And Tricks

Hello, it's Trinity Wilson here and I love cleaning carpets. Having five children gave me a crash course on this fine art. While renting, it's important to keep the carpets free of stains despite the chaos that multiple children bring down after all. I learned how to lift liquids out of the carpet before they could set. I learned how to remove hidden stains well after the kids moved something over the top to cover their crime. I've even taught my kids how to clean stains out of their carpets using both natural and commercial products. I've decided to apply my skills to this website to teach my readers the best ways to approach carpet cleaning. I will share how to clean the carpet by hand, with a machine and even when to hire professionals to get the job done. Welcome to my site, please come by often!
