No matter who you are, there is a good chance you can find several old keys hanging around that either no longer have a purpose, or you have no idea what their purpose was in the first place. You could toss these keys in the trash or pop them back in the junk drawer, but there are some pretty cool and crafty things you can make for your home using them. Here are a few you should take note of that you may find fun to tackle the next time you are feeling creative.
Make a Key Rack
It may sound a little quirky, but you can use your old keys to make a brand new key hanger. All you need is four or five old keys, and a piece of wood about six to eight inches long. If you like the retro look of the keys of different colors, just leave them as they are. However, you can just as easily grab a can of spray paint and give them all an even coat of color. The board color is up to you as well. Paint it colorful, leave it natural, or use stain to give it an old and tarnished look.
Decorative Key Wedding Favors
This creative idea can take a lot of keys. You can go about gathering a bunch of keys in a couple of ways: stop in and see a local locksmith and ask for extra old keys, or take up a collection from friends and family members. One of the best things about keys is the fact that they are easy to enhance with all kinds of fun decor. They can be spray-painted, glittered, and even bedazzled with stones. Further, they all have a hole to use for attaching string conveniently in place.
You can spray a bunch of keys one color, make decorative tags with a sweet message, and give them out at your wedding as party favors. You could even use the keys to create placeholders at the tables for the reception. Just add names to the tags, attach them with string, and hang them from chairs or use the as napkin holders.
The next time you find a key without a lock or talk to a local locksmith like Bob's Lock & Key, you might want to go ahead and start adding old keys to your collection. You will find all kinds of creative ways to use them for crafty purposes.

Hello, it's Trinity Wilson here and I love cleaning carpets. Having five children gave me a crash course on this fine art. While renting, it's important to keep the carpets free of stains despite the chaos that multiple children bring down after all. I learned how to lift liquids out of the carpet before they could set. I learned how to remove hidden stains well after the kids moved something over the top to cover their crime. I've even taught my kids how to clean stains out of their carpets using both natural and commercial products. I've decided to apply my skills to this website to teach my readers the best ways to approach carpet cleaning. I will share how to clean the carpet by hand, with a machine and even when to hire professionals to get the job done. Welcome to my site, please come by often!
